The Uniden GMR5088-2CKHS is a rugged FRS/GMRS two way radio designed for the outdoors. From its waterproof case to its Realtree Xtra® camo finish, this heavy duty walkie talkie is packed with the features and functionality you need for your next hike in the wilderness, hunt in the woods, ski trip in the mountains or other extreme outdoor activity.

The Uniden GMR5088 supports all 22 FRS/GMRS channels with 285 privacy settings (142 Privacy Tones + 143 Group Codes). It also has 7 NOAA weather channels and weather alerts, so you can always stay ahead of changing weather conditions if severe weather enters your area. The GMR5088 features 10 selectable call tones, a backlit display, glow in the dark keypad, missed call indicator, channel scan feature, and silent mode. It also has channel scan, Power Boost PTT, battery strength meter, VOX capability and a built-in emergency strobe light.

In addition to the features found on the high end Uniden models, the GMR-5088-2CKHS also has two functions somewhat unique, Auto Channel Change and Group Mode with direct call and caller name display. Auto channel change will update all radios in your party to a new channel to help reduce interference. Direct call allows you to communicate privately with one specific member of your group. To take advantage of the auto channel change and direct call features, all members of your party must have Uniden radios that support these features.

Uniden added even greater versatility to the 5088 with dual power options. It can be powered with 3 AA alkaline batteries (not included) or 3 AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (included) The NiMH batteries can be recharged while in the radio using the included drop-in dual desktop charger or the built-in micro USB port on top of the radio.

The Uniden GMR-5088 is also JIS7 water resistant and is submersible in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes!
