Rechargeable Two Way Radios
Rechargeable two way radios include rechargeable batteries and a radio charger.
Buying a two way radio that includes rechargeable batteries is usually a good
idea if you plan to use the radio frequently. Charging the included batteries
will save you money over replacing disposable batteries.
Most rechargeable batteries included with two way radios are either NiCD (Nickel Cadmium)
or NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride). NiCD batteries have a "memory effect" and are less
desirable. They should be completely discharged before recharging. NiMH batteries
have more capacity and do not have the "memory effect".
If you plan to use the radios less frequently, such as at a once-a-year event, you
may find disposable batteries more convenient than rechargeable. Disposable batteries
will last longer than rechargeable ones, and you don't have to wait for them to charge.
